DescriptionLieutenant George Johnston’s (of Rum Rebellion fame) Illawarra grant of 1500 acres was located by James Meehan 6 December 1816.

It was named' Macquarie Gift', and was under the management of William Wilson. Johnston’s son David, later received two grants of land known as 'Johnston’s Meadows' on the western side of the 'Macquarie Gift'.

One of Johnston's daughters, Blanche married Lieutenant Weston in 1829.

The Johnston's Meadows Estate was inherited by their descendants.
