George Cubitt Arnold moved to Shellharbour Village with his wife Mary Ann (nee Szarka) and family c1872. George was a baker and had previously been in the bakery business in Kiama in 1870, having moved from Campbelltown.

George and Mary Ann had seven children -

Jemima b. 1870 Kiama

George built his home 'Beau Vista' in Eastern Avenue, Shellharbour, and also 'The Keep' used to preserve food. He sold the bakery in 1885 and moved to Albion Park, where he set up another bakery.

On his retirement, he moved back to Shellharbour to live at 'Aronda' with his daughter. Mary Ann had predeceased him in 1909.
