NameNorrisDescriptionWilliam Henry Norris was born in England in 1829. In 1847 he was tried for assault and robbery at the Witshire Assizes and transported for seven years. He was 19 years old at the time.
IN 1849 he was granted a ticket of leave for the Illawarra area and was employed by Henry Hughes at Albion Park.
In 1853, he applied to marry Mary Fryer (nee Whittaker), and they had eleven children.
George Hamilton Norris was born at Albion Park in 1856. He married Annie Dillon/Ditton in 1896.
William Henry Norris Jnr was born at Albion Park in 1862. He married Annie Squire Gawthorpe in 1904. William and Annie, had six children; Alexander, William, Evelyn, Beatrice, Nancy and Jessie. Nancy died when she was just four years old, in 1920, after contracting croup.
William Henry Norris Jnr was a well known dairy farmer in Albion Park. He was a strong supporter of the Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial (AHI) Society and served many years on the committee. William also served as alderman for Shellharbour Council. the family farmed at 'Mount Wentworth', Croom Road, Albion Park, and what became later known as the 'Norris Homestead', on the corner of Croome and Tongarra Roads. The Norris homestead was later farmed by Slaney Jones.
Adelaide Norris was born at Albion Park in 1875 and married Alick Horsley Weston in 1898. Their son was well known Albion Park identity, Bert Weston.
