NameLamerton, NoelOccupationSolicitorBiographyNoel Edmund Alfred Lamerton attended Fort Street Boys High School in Sydney and studied law. Following his service in WWII, he completed his law degree and set up a practice in Albion Park in 1948.
His firm; Lamerton, Lough and Leamon was well known in the Illawarra.
Noel was the solicitor for Shellharbour Council from 1950. He provided valued advice and assistance to mayors, alderman and staff. Noel became one of the state's most experienced solicitors on Local Government matters.
Noel was also a talented violinist, and was a leading violinist with the Wollongong Symphony Orchestra. He was also a member of the Illawarra Choral Society, and one of those who was instrumental in the establishment of the Wollongong Conservatory of Music.
Noel passed away in 1981 at the age of 59.
Shellharbour Council's former administration building, Lamerton House at Shellharbour City Centre, was named in his honour.
