DESCRIPTION
NameRobbDescriptionGeorge and Fanny Robb, who had married in Melbourne Victoria, moved to the live in the Illawarra District settling in Jamberoo.
Unfortunately, George died in a flood at Appin in 1869. Fanny continued living at Jamberoo at their farm 'Hill of Peace' with their children. The 1891 and 1901 Census show her living at the farm. In a Government Gazette dated 2nd October 1896 Fanny is living in the parish of Kiama adjoining the property of Alick Osborne (brother of Henry Osborne).
George and Fanny had seven children, the eldest was 10 years old when their father died.
Children of George and Fanny:
Arthur bn. 1858 in Kiama. In 1883 he married Emma Vidler in Kiama and died in 1929 at Wollongong.
George (Jnr) bn.1860 he married Mary Elvin Harrigan in 1884 at Robertson (he was living and working as a blacksmith there according to his marriage certificate). He died in Tyagarah N.S.W.
Fanny bn.1861 Kiama. She married Herbert J Maund in 1886 in Boorowa and died in 1931 Cundletown N.S.W.
Lady (Lydia) Jane bn. 1863 Kiama. She married Joseph Henry Price in Sydney in 1896 died 1948 Brisbane Queensland.
William bn.1864 Kiama. In 1904 at Taree married Giesta Sophia Musico died 1928 Dumaresq N.S.W.
John bn.1866 Kiama. He married Alice Maud Wingate Howell in 1898 at Newtown died 1946 Auburn N.S.W. He was ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church.
Alexander bn.1868 Kiama died 1943 Kiama as the result of a fire which burnt down the house in which he occupied 'Hill of Peace', Jamberoo.
Arthur Robb, the eldest son of George and Fanny, married Emma Vidler and in the Shellharbour Valuation Books in 1883, Arthur is a lessee at Yellow Rock, Albion Park. In the census for both 1891 and 1901 he is living at Yellow Rock.
Arthur was one of the original shareholders of the Illawarra Co-operative Central Dairy.
Arthur and Emma had five children:
Albert Arthur bn.1924 Kiama, married Vina Isabella Smith in 1922 died at Port Kembla 1977.
Lydia Jane bn.1855 Kiama, died 1886.
George Caleb bn.1889 Kiama. died 1974.
William Leslie bn 1891 Kiama died 1960.
Lavinia Myrtle bn 1895 died 1921.
Tragically, in 1921, Emma Robb and her daughter Lavinia were killed at Yellow Rock Creek, when they were thrown out of the sulky they were riding in, presumably after their horse bolted.
Albert Arthur, the only child of Arthur and Emma to marry, married Vina Smith in 1922 at Albion Park they had three children:
Albert Errol bn 1924 married Mary Mildred Downes, died 1977 Port Kembla.
Neville James bn 1926. He married Joan Mary Humby in 1949 at Lithgow died 2014 Shellharbour.
Norman Trevor bn 1934.He married Olive May Wooldridge in 1954 at Bulli. Died 2017. Norman served in the Vietnam War and had several awards from the Government. It would seem he continued serving as various Electoral rolls his occupation lists him as an army officer.
Albert and Vina's son Albert Errol Robb married Mary Mildred Downes in 1954, and they continued running the family farm.
